I've run businesses. The books came with them.
Rental properties, merchandising, service businesses, nonprofit organizations. I've operated and managed all of them, and I've rebuilt their financial systems along the way. The improvements that came out of that work are what this practice brings to your business.

Trained in accounting, tested in my own businesses
Certified Public Bookkeeper. BS in Accounting, summa cum laude. CPA candidate with the New York exams in progress, and more than a decade of books across a wide range of industries. I keep books for my own operations too, so most of what I recommend was tested there first.
What I see go wrong most isn't fraud. It's rushing. Bank feeds classified on autopilot, no system checking the automation, nobody verifying to source documents. I verify to source documents.
Before you hide the books
Bring me the shoebox
A lot of owners are embarrassed to show anyone their books. There's no need. I've worked with confident owners whose books had gaps they never suspected, and nervous owners whose books were nearly fine. You only ever see your own books. I've seen a lot of them, and messy is normal.
Nothing about a messy file scares me off, either. Worst case we start a fresh set of books, and I've done it. Usually it's not that bad. Usually we can fix what you've got.
